It was produced on July 17, 1951, and left the Wolfsburg factory four days later, heading to Portugal by train. Guérin, its first owner, registered on August 22, was the official importer for our country.
Two days later, it was already registered in the name of Luiz Benavente (Lisbon 1902-1993), a famous architect known for numerous public works, both nationally and in overseas territories.
The vehicle remained with his family even after his death, until 2002. It was acquired in 2006 by the current owner, in the Alentejo region.
From then on, it underwent a thorough restoration, where no bolt on its bodywork or any mechanical element remained in place, including those from its 1.100cc engine with just 25 horsepower and its unsynchronised gearbox. All details were taken into account, from the most visible ones, such as the upholstery, to the more subtle ones, like the original Kamax bolts, the simple battery cover and its springs, the felt of the door window seals, and even the front bonnet emblem, which is exclusive to this particular model. Once the restoration was complete, it participated in all editions of Madeira's largest annual classic vehicle exhibition. At the first edition of the Reid’s Classic Auto Show in 2012 (now known as Madeira Classic Car Revival), it won the Class H award for post-war open or closed vehicles from 1945 to 1980. Subsequently, in 2017, at the event now known as Madeira Classic Car Revival, it was awarded “Best of Show”. For this reason, that same year it travelled to the Cascais Classic Motorshow, where it was a finalist for 'Best of Show' and won the 'Spirit of Boxer' award.
